The government of the Republic of Serbia accepted the business plan for IT sector in Serbia. It was agreed that EUR 1.5 million be invested in retraining for new IT professionals and ten million for an infrastructure development. Due to the invitation of Minister Ana Brnabić, the Government meeting was attended by the representatives of the IT community. Among them was also the manager of the NiCAT cluster.
In December, the NiCAT cluster held a meeting for a training on the job within the project IT Cluster Academy. Members participating in the project IT Cluster Academy are: Ingsoftware, Logik business solutions, HostingBuY Institute, NIRI, Irvas International, Eurogenyx, SmartNet Technologies, Morena Engineering and Optoelectronic group which gathers three companies. All members that were at the meeting discussed where candidates will go to practice. In January, trainings and workshops for the mentors and mentored will be held.
Fourteen innovative projects in Serbia received financial support from the European Union for the cooperation between the science and business program which was published by the Innovation Fund. Among the fourteen selected projects, NiCAT members received grants - LMB Soft, ICNT and NIRI 4NL RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT.
The forum of advanced technologies showed that Nis has all the potential to be developed in the region as a center of advanced technologies. The best evidence for development and progress of Nis is the fact that all relevant stakeholders support this project – City officials, the University, the National Employment Service, Chamber of Commerce and the representatives of the private sector.
NiCAT cluster has new member, Younify Company. Younify is Magento e-commerce specialist company, operating from Niš, Serbia. It has a rich portfolio of 250+ profitable e-commerce solutions. Younify operates mainly on the Dutch market for the last 9 years. 98% of market share is Dutch, while the remaining markets are Belgium, Germany and France.
NiCAT cluster members were met with the representatives of companies from Hungary who visited Niš on 21st November 2016 as a part of the Government delegation. Meetings were held at Tami Residence hotel. More than 70 companies from Hungary applied, including companies from the fields of electronics, mechanical engineering and the IT sector. Hungarian companies were particularly interested in the IT sector in our region.
On Wednesday, 16th of November, at the second Forum of Advanced Technologies, the presentations of successful companies from Nis and NiCAT cluster members were held. Companies that held interesting lectures for the young (pupils, students, graduates, entrepreneurs, individuals at the beginning of their career) were: Advanced Security Technologies, HostingBuY and Logik.
Tuesday, 15th November - NiCAT cluster together with the Regional Chamber of Commerce Niš and with USAID REG financial support organized B2B meetings. B2B event was very successful. There were 68 registered participants and 111 scheduled meetings, of which 100 meetings were held. Participants of the event were positively surprised by the significance of this kind of events and suggested that it should be organized more often.
On 27th of October in Gothenburg B2B meetings of IT companies from Sweden and countries of the Balkan and Black Sea region were held. The delegation from Nis was made up from the representatives of companies INGSOFTWARE and Troxo. USAID REG program, which was the organizer of this event, co-funded part of the costs.
At the end of October a conference BUSINESS BRIDGES 2016 was held in Belgrade - an event whose focus was on the inter-sectoral cooperation. This conference was organized by the Serbian Clusters Association (SCAN) with USAID support. The aim of this event was to gather the representatives of businesses from different sectors to discuss cooperation between the various industries and the challenges that such cooperation brings.
